Brief Profile of Founder

Sidram Meleppa Kaluti, BA, HDC, NIS was born on 6th July 1946 at Jamakhandi in Wrestler’s family, where his father late Shri Meleppa and brother late Shri Ramanna Kaluti, Ex-MLA, were also reputed wrestler.

Sports Achievements

He started his sports (wrestling) carrier at the age of 6 ½ years (1953) and was awarded as Chota Bhim title by erstwhile State of Maharashtra. Secured four Times Karnataka State Champion, Once All India inter University Champion and twice Runner-up in Wrestling.

Service Details

Retired as Additional Registrar of Co-operative Societies from Karnataka State Cadre, worked for 40 years in various capacities, as NIS wing Wrestling Coach in Orissa State, 1970, Sub-Inspector of Police in Karnataka 1972, Asst. Registrar of Co-operative Societies, 1974 batch KPSC.

Sports School, Chandaragi (50 Crores Project in the year 1983)

This institute is my brainchild, inspired from an international sport meet in Japan and also from the 9th Asian Games held in Delhi. This is country’s first ever Sports School established in the year 1983, on the principles of co-operation to promote sporting activities among the young and train them professionally to develop world class sportsmen with academic excellence and responsible citizens of this Nation.

This residential school has all the facilities for Sports and Academics on 98 Acres of land, with an investment of around Rs.50 Crores and around 800 students starting from 6th standard to Pre-University College. The school students are mainly from rural areas covering entire Karnataka State. Thousands of students have passed out from this institution with best academic and sports career. This institution was built without government aid and was established only with the help of co-operative institutions, co-operators and sports lovers of Karnataka state.
